Read: Acts 16:1-40
If circumcision wasn’t necessary anymore, why did Paul circumcise Timothy before taking him along on the journey with him?
Why were Paul and Silas thrown into prison and chained?
About midnight, Paul and Silas were _______________ and _______________ hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent _______________ that the foundations of the prison were shaken.
Reflect and Apply:
Even though Paul and Silas were in a difficult and scary situation, they continued to sing and pray to God, not asking Him to release them but instead to praise Him. When have you found yourself in a seemingly impossible situation and found yourself praising God?
Paul wanted the magistrate to come and release them. It was important to him because they had punished them in public but didn’t want to release them in public and take responsibility. Think of a situation where you or someone you know didn’t want to step up and take responsibility for a mistake. Describe.
Going Beyond: Write out today’s scripture in a journal or notebook.
