Be Thankful In All Circumstances
Scripture:
Philippians 4: 6 – 7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
As a Christian, it is important you cultivate the attitude of giving thanks to God in all circumstances. This is one of the simplest ways of overcoming anxiety. Instead of dwelling on what you seemingly think you lack or in need of, and getting overwhelmed with cares and worries, learn to always give thanks to the Lord.
Interestingly, you have more to be thankful to the Lord for than you can imagine.
Take a look around you, your family, colleagues, and nation. Just imagine the peace in your nation; the beautiful people in your world of contact. What of the health, prosperity, promotion and love you and members of your family have enjoyed this year? Like the songwriter wrote, ‘count your blessings, name them one by one, and it would surprise you what the Lord has done.’ Hallelujah!
Like we read in our text scripture, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God…” Do not allow yourself to be beaten down with cares and fears. It is that same God that miraculously provided manna and quays to the Israelites in the wilderness that you serve. Remember He is the one that feeds the birds in the air and clothe the grasses in the field. You are His child and more valuable than the birds and grasses and He will take better care of you. “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?” Matthew 6: 25.
When you learn to be thankful to the Lord always, He will bless you more than your mind can fathom. You will also experience the peace of God, which transcends all understanding. So quit complaining and worrying yourself, thrust your faith on the Lord with a grateful heart and your testimonies would abound for all to see.
Prayer:
Father in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I thank You for teaching me through Your Word the importance of being thankful. With gratitude in my heart, I thank You for all that you have done for me, family, nation and the body of Christ. I declare that I will never worry about anything again rather with prayer and petition with thanksgiving I will always make my request known to You. Amen.
