Psalm 37:4 (CEV) Do what the Lord wants, and he will give you your heart’s desire.
Is it really that easy? Can I just do whatever the Lord wants, and He’ll give me anything I want? A brand new car? A house with room for everybody and everything I own?
Sign me up for that!
Oh, but wait. How do I do that? And what is my heart’s desire, really?
First, I guess I need to figure out what He wants from me. Blind obedience? Multiple rules following?
Or did Christ come to wipe out the old and bring in the new? The new that says, A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another. (John 13: 34-35)
Yes, I think that’s it. Love.
Full, complete, total Agape love. Accepting all. Trusting Him. Allowing that love to lead my thoughts and actions.
True love of Christ and from Christ takes care of all the rules, IF we follow it.
After that, when we allow His love to consume us, drive us, fulfill us, then we receive the desires of our hearts. But guess what. They don’t include big houses or fancy cars anymore. Nope. Instead they include these things: joy, peace, understanding, purpose, contentment.
I think that’s something I can work towards. I know I want to try. And then I’ll have my heart’s desire.
Thank you, Lord!
Today’s Prayer: Dear God, Thank you for the promises you bring that you will give us our heart’s desires if we learn to do what you want us to do. Guide us in our daily lives so that we may hear your call. Amen.
Personal Challenge: What do you need to do in order to fully understand and accept Christ’s unconditional love in you? Who needs His love from you? Think most of all of someone whom you find it difficult to give it to. Brainstorm three actions you can take to help you truly extend that love.
Love in Him,
Julie

I struggled with 6 years of infertility, and Psalms 37:4 was always on my mind and I’d often recite as a mantra for the day. I’m happy to say He gave me 2 beautiful kids. I truly believe He will give you many desires of your heart.
