JUST ONE THING NARRATIVE
One of the most often-said replies when asked how your day is going has to be the word, “busy”. Life is just busy…with families, work, church, volunteering, etc.
Our days seem to be cram-packed from when our foot hits the floor as we get out of bed until our foot slips under the sheet at the end of the day.
Whether or not we choose to be busy because we want to or because we feel we are expected to do everything we are asked, the feeling often overwhelms us. Because of this, we can lose our sense of thankfulness.
And, we can lose sight of following where God is leading us. We simply can’t hear Him talking over the din of everything else that fills our day.
Let’s focus on choosing just one thing to help us refocus on God.
Whatever it is that speaks to you on that level… music, nature, reading, or something else…intentionally bring that one thing into your life even for a few minutes each day.
You will find yourself spending more of your time being thankful for God and being steered toward the path where He wants you to be.
JUST ONE THING SCRIPTURES
Exodus 33:14 And he said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 6:34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Psalm 142:3 When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then You knew my path.
Matthew 11:28-30 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Having a Ball
- Have the ladies stand in a circle.
- Provide a beach ball or another type of ball that’s easy to toss.
- Start with one lady and ask her to toss the ball to someone in the circle.
- The lady who catches the ball will then share ‘just one thing’ about herself with the group.
- That lady will toss it to someone else and the game continues until each lady has had a chance to share.
JUST ONE THING RETREAT ACTIVITIES

Take cardboard about 6″x7″ and double sided tape. While on the walk, make a collage of things found.

JUST ONE THING CLOSING PRAYER:
Dear Lord, with the prevalent expectation for us to fill every waking moment with activities, that can leave us with no extra time in the day for you. Thank you for letting us slow down while we have been here and refocusing on the goal of sharing our life with you. We have worked on coming up with ‘just one thing’ that we can do even just a few minutes every day that makes us feel closer to you. We already have a sense of peace and thankfulness as we look forward to seeing you every day. Thank you for our experiences together here and please watch over us as we head home. Amen.
