Kindness Matters in Every Step of Faith
Hebrews 8:12 I will treat them with kindness, even though they are wicked. I will forget their sins.
There aren’t many things tougher than being nice to someone who’s just plain mean. I once worked with a girl who never had a nice thing to say about anyone else. When we met to share lessons and ideas (I’m a teacher), she never wanted to share. If someone earned an award or recognition for a job well done, she complained out loud telling everyone why the award recipient didn’t really deserve it.
Wow, it was difficult to stay positive around her.
When faced with those who seldom if ever have a nice thing to say, don’t you just sometimes want to gripe back at them? They make me want to be mean right back.
However, if I am truly allowing Christ to live through me, I have to remember to keep my calm and stay kind. No matter what ‘wickedness’ we face, we are called to treat the person with kindness. Kindness matters!
God does it for us, Hebrews 8:12 reminds us of this, and in order to follow Him, I must extend the same compassion to others. All of them.
Today’s Prayer: Lord, thank you for the opportunity to share your love, acceptance, and kindness to everyone even those who may seem wicked in our eyes.
Personal Challenge: Think of someone in your daily life who is regularly unkind or who has been unkind to you. How do you react to them? Even if you’re not outright mean in return, is there a better or different way you can treat them in order to better be an example of Christ’s love?
