WHATEVER IS TRUE: CHRISTIAN WOMEN’S RETREAT THEME
Reading and soaking in Philippians 4:8-9 can fill our hearts with gratitude.
“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.”
This retreat will help bring our attitudes into the focus that God desires for us… following His guidance on filling our minds with positive thoughts.
And realizing that God’s peace will be with us when we practice this mindset is such a special gift that gives us strength to face challenges in our lives.
WHATEVER IS TRUE SCRIPTURES:
Philippians 4:8-9 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
1 John 3:18 Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.
2 Timothy 2:20-21 Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also of wood and clay, some for honorable use, some for dishonorable. Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Matthew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
WHATEVER IS TRUE ICEBREAKERS:
Icebreaker Question:
As the old saying goes, ‘Practice makes perfect’. One of the lessons through this retreat is to practice thinking about whatever is true and honorable and just in our lives.
Go around the group and ask the ladies to share one tip on how they improve their practicing skills.
The Envelope Please:
To prepare: Cut out enough strips of paper for each person to have 10 strips
Directions: Have the ladies write 10 facts about themselves, one per strip of paper. Place them all in a large envelope. The group leader pulls one fact out at time, reads it, and has the rest of the group guess the person’s identity.
WHATEVER IS TRUE RETREAT CRAFTS/ACTIVITIES:
If I Were…
Check out this post from Christian Camp Pro for the If I Were game plus several more.
Fabulous 4 Corners:
Announce four topics, one for each ‘corner’, and have each lady go to the topic corner that best fits her. When all of the ladies have had a chance to get to a corner, give them a subtopic to discuss among themselves.
Click here for topics and sub-topics plus get printable lists so you don’t have to type them all out yourself.
Clipboard Art:
Provide floral and shape die cuts, decorative markers, and card stock to create clipboard art. Here are lots of great clipboard art ideas.
Whatever is True Bookmark:
Provide items such as decorative paper, stickers, ribbon, gel pens, etc. to make bookmarks with the Philippians 4:8 scripture on it. Use card stock or laminate the bookmark to make it more sturdy.

WHATEVER IS TRUE SMALL GROUP DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
1. Define ‘whatever is true, honorable, just, pure, etc.’ in your life.
2. How can you achieve God’s direction to think about those things through your daily routine?
3. How do you feel the peace of God as you practice what He teaches?

Hi!
I’m looking at your “Whatever is true” retreat. I’m confused, is it a free download? Or is there a place to purchase this?
Thank You!
Shannon Sauer
Hi Shannon, the information on the website is enough ‘bare bones’ to get you started as it has the theme idea, scriptures, activity suggestions, etc. Many of our theme bundles have an ‘upgrade’ that costs, but this one doesn’t yet. The upgrades include an original devotional, a speakers’ outline, lots of activities, and more. My goal is to eventually have the upgrade theme bundles for all the themes in 101 Retreat Theme Ideas for Christian Women – https://lovingchristministries.com/101-retreat-theme-ideas-for-christian-women/
